Civils Quantity surveyor

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Civils/Groundworks)
Location: Basildon, Essex
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role:

Our client, a leading company in the construction industry, is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Basildon, Essex. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civils or Groundworks, with excellent technical knowledge and experience in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This role offers a competitive salary between £60k and £70k depending on the level of experience.

Key Responsibilities:

*Managing all aspects of the cost management process, from initial cost estimates through to final account settlements.
*Preparing and reviewing tender documents, contracts, and variations.
*Conducting site visits to assess project progress and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
*Preparing and submitting interim valuations and final accounts.
*Monitoring project budgets, providing cost forecasts, and advising on cost control measures.
*Engaging with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
*Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
*Collaborating with other team members to resolve any contractual or financial issues.
*Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Requirements:

*Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on Civils or Groundworks projects.
*Strong knowledge of construction processes, costs, and materials.
*Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
*Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with clients and colleagues.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS accredited degree, HNC/HND in Construction, etc.) is desirable.
*Experience with industry-standard software such as CostX, Sage, or similar.
*A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
