Design Engineer required for a well-established and innovative company who are market leaders in their industry. They offer a varied role where you get involved in the full product life cycle.

The Successful Design Engineer will have experience of cradle to grave product management . You will be preferably from the Automotive sector, although other industries will be considered with transferability such as Aerospace or Medical . You will have exposure to working with Electronic/Electrical products , although other background can be considered. You will hold an HND/HNC or equivalent in engineering with a solid professional background. You will need to be prepared to be hands on and be flexible with working as some clients are based internationally. You will need an understanding of the difference between OEs and aftermarket. You will have strong presentation skills, and be able to communicate at various levels including Directors and Clientele.

The Design Engineer Role:

* 20/80 split between hands on work and project management/liaison .
* Working cross functionally between various departments focused on rapid introduction of new and innovative products , maximising the product efficiency in the Market.
* Liaising between Product Development , Quality , Design , Commercial , Testing , Applications and Clientele.
* Organise, lead, and motivate in the development and delivery of an electronics project in line with agreed cost, quality, and timing commitments.
* Develop a schedule of PD activities and track delivery of the activities, reporting out status to the Lead Engineer and Product Program Manager and/or others as required.
* Perform technical risk and issue analysis and management, and ensure appropriate escalation for resolution where needed.
* Lead configuration, change management activities with/for the product development team. Conduct feature validation/verification testing , and author feature sing off reports.
* Conduct regular face to face design reviews.

The Successful Design Engineer:
