Mechanical Estimator
Location: Maidstone (Office-Based)
Salary: Up to £70,000 (DOE)

The Company
A growing and well-established mechanical contractor is expanding its Projects / Contracts Team with the appointment of a Mechanical Estimator.
This is a growth hire, as estimating responsibilities are currently shared across the team. The successful candidate will take ownership of the estimating function and play a key role in supporting continued business expansion.
Mechanical packages range from £2,000 up to £2 million across a variety of sectors.
The Role
The position is primarily pre-construction focused, with some commercial crossover including variations and cost management where required.
Key responsibilities include:

Reviewing drawings, schematics, specifications and tender documentation
*
Preparing accurate and detailed mechanical cost estimates
*
Completing material, labour and equipment take-offs
*
Preparing and submitting competitive tenders and bids
*
Producing and submitting PQQ and ITT documentation
*
Identifying commercial risks and providing mitigation strategies
*
Negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers to secure best pricing
*
Liaising with engineers, subcontractors and clients to clarify scope
*
Managing variations and supporting commercial processes
*
Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost databases
Requirements
*
Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical estimating or similar role
*
Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems
*
Confident analysing drawings and technical documentation
*
Commercially aware with strong analytical skills
*
Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or similar
*
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
*
Able to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
*
Experience using SimPro (training provided)
*
CAD experience or qualification
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
8:00am - 5:30pm
