Portfolio Delivery Manager

Birmingham - Hybrid (2 office days)

Permanent FTE



I am currently working with a leading specialist insurer with a global footprint, operating in multiple countries with offices in the UK&I. With over 2,000 employees worldwide, this insurer offers a wide range of insurance products and services, catering to the diverse needs of clients across various industries. This client is building out their project capabilities and are currently looking for a strong Portfolio Delivery Manager who would be able to join a team of 2 PMO analysts and develop the maturity of the function while enabling programme, project and portfolio services across the enterprise.



This role will hold responsibility for developing strategic initiatives and regulatory projects, working with Project Managers and Delivery Leads driving clear and simple communication. This role will be required to support budgeting, drive the development of the Capacity Management capability and support stakeholder to consider their capacity for change. This role will be the steward of the Enterprise Change Portfolio as part of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (PMO).



Key responsibilities:

* Across the Enterprise provide Programme, Project, Portfolio services to assigned portfolio(s)
* Collates and challenges updates from Project managers / Delivery Leads
* Utilise lessons learned to improve future delivery success
* Identifies and assists in the definition of dependencies and manage impact awareness
* Facilitate forums to promote visibility and alignment between activities / projects within portfolio (e.g. (QBR)
* Consider synergies and common needs across the portfolio (e.g SME capacity / resourcing, Dependencies, support from other change services such as Procurement)
* Support budgeting and cost control in context of the Change Funding model
* Highlight conflicts between BAU and Portfolio needs



Skills & Experience:

* Previous experience as a Portfolio Deliver Manager, Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Analyst
* Skilled in Time management; Balancing competing needs ; coach and education; Feedback
* Knowledge of Applications and tools (MS office suite; JIRA; Confluence; PPM Tools - Planview Adaptive Work)
* Experience prioritising project pipelines / backlog processes
* Knowledge of Business operating models and metrics (OKR's, KPI's, etc)
* Knowledge of P3M and PMO theories and practices, including maturity models
* Typical financial processes (Budgeting, Forecasting, Actuals, Alignment and Financial Cycles)
* Service management (ITIL)
* Change Delivery methods (MSP, Prince2, SDLC, Scrum, SAFe)
* Corporate language and communication
