Role: Trainee Tractor Driver and Landscape Operative (Full time/Permanent)
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £19-22k

Do you have experience or an interest in operating machinery? Are you an enthusiastic and fast learner with the ability to carry out forestry and landscape duties?

This is a varied role in which you would be working with various tractors (e.g. Toppers, Side-Arm Flails, Forwarder Trailers, Bale Trailers, Tipping Trailers, Ground care machines, Forklifts, Harrows, Wood Chippers) in a safe and efficient manner to ensure that the green estate is maintained and presented to a good standard.

Full drivers license
Happy to work outside in all seasons
Occasional weekend work may be required
Willingness to take on further training to enhance skill level

Ensure machinery in your care and operation is used correctly. Any machinery defects should be reported to the Direct Works Manager and efficiently rectified.
Work could include tree work, chipping, stump grinding, hedge cutting, weed control, tree/shrub planting, fencing, park fixtures and fittings, play areas and equipment repair/installations, footpaths, bridges, boardwalks, art installations, assisting with keeping the park tidy and presentable
Help identify any additional work required (or work which would enhance site development)
Help ensure the operation team follows the correct working hours, including prompt arrivals to and from site.
Carry out risk assessments and implement measures on site.
Assist in health and safety matters on site while ensuring all statutory health and safety requirements are fulfilled.
Liaise with the Direct Works Manager, Landscape Officers and other team members on issues associated with the management of the green estate.
As part of a call-out system that includes weekend and evening periods, respond to incidents, alarms/emergencies regarding Parks Trust land and holdings as reasonably required.
